Hamilton and Herring Orthodontics

Meet Dr. David Hamilton

Dr David HamiltonMy dream was to become an orthodontist from the time I was 12 years old. My father was an orthodontist, and I always saw him really enjoying what he did. Orthodontics is a unique profession that combines art, science, and biology. Every patient's case is different, so it is very stimulating and extremely rewarding to help patients achieve the beautiful smile they desire. I enjoy my work because orthodontic treatment provides health benefits to my patients, but even more than that, I really get to see how creating smiles can change people's lives. It is great to see a patient's self-esteem improve during orthodontic treatment. I know that we really make a difference for our patients, and that difference can last a lifetime.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1976. I continued on at UNC Chapel Hill where I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and my Master's degree in Orthodontics.

Dr Herring and I believe that participation in continuing education is vital to our ongoing development and growth as an orthodontic practitioners.  We are committed to providing our patients with the most current and effective treatment options. As a member of several professional organizations, I stay involved with the greater orthodontic community and stay up-to-date on the best technology available. I am a member of the Foothills Dental Continuum, Western Piedmont Dental Society, North Carolina Orthodontic Association, University of North Carolina Orthodontic Alumni Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Our orthodontic team is very devoted to our practice and committed to providing the highest level of  care to all of our patients. We share a common mission to provide excellent and very personal treatment. Our team members pride themselves in getting to know all of our patients during their time in treatment and are very empathetic towards them. Each and every patient is given individualized attention. I could not have better people working for me, and each and every one of them has special gifts which they add to the practice.

I have lived in Hickory since 1982 but am originally from New Castle, PA. My wife Angela and I have four children. Elyse is a graduate student at UNC, Christina is a junior at Elon University, my oldest step-son Jesse is a junior at Kenyon College and the youngest, Nolan, is a junior in high school.

At the current time I am very active in cycling, snow skiing and photography. I have several of my photographs in our office and photography continues to be one of my favorite past times. I also love to spend time reading.
